Cosmetology School Programs
Bluestone’s cosmetology school programs include courses on the principles and practices of the professions of Cosmetology, Esthetics, Manicuring/Nail Technology and Instructor Training. Students are also instructed on how to successfully pass the Washington State Board Examinations. Once you graduate and pass the licensing exam, you are then certified to take advantage of growing job opportunities in salon and spa settings, in industry marketing and manufacturing, and in business development, education, or training.
Our cosmetology course is offered four times per year during the fall, winter, spring and summer, while the esthetics, nail technology, and instructor programs are offered as demand dictates. Applications are accepted throughout the year. A $100 registration fee is required to secure a spot for your desired start date.
Our Cosmetology Program is 1,680 hours of instruction, including more than 200 hours each in theory, hair cutting, styling, and coloring & bleaching. In addition to hair styling, our curriculum also includes manicuring, esthetics, safety, first aid, disinfection, and business development. Once you graduate and pass the licensing exam, you can work as a stylist, color specialist, texture specialist, platform artist, instructor, or salon owner.
In our Esthetics Program, instructors cover the pursuit of healthy, beautiful skin in 760 hours of training. Coursework includes techniques in skin care, waxing, makeup application, lash extensions and lash & brow tinting, but the program also covers more pragmatic topics such as business development and the importance of retail knowledge when delivering skin care. This is a growing specialty within the health & beauty industry, so apply to the program today.
Our Nail Technology program is aimed at delivering the most up-to-date techniques for natural and artificial nails in 620 hours of instruction. You’ll also gain knowledge of retail product and learn techniques for building a business. Once you have graduated and passed the state licensing exam, you can work as a nail technician, salon manager, instructor, product educator, distributor sales consultant, or instructor.
If you’ve always wanted to teach, our Instructor Training program is for you. We offer 500 hours of student-focused curriculum developing skills through group activities. Our curriculum focuses on how to present lectures or demonstrations, evaluate student performance, and prepare classroom activities. We believe the strength of our industry comes from its schools. The goal of our program is to produce the very best teachers we can.
